Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious

Double Entendre
A double entendre is a figure of speech in which a spoken phrase is devised to be understood in either of two ways. Often the first meaning is straightforward, while the second meaning is more obscure, often inappropriate, or ironic. Double entendres rely on multiple meanings of words, or different interpretations of the same primary meaning, often exploiting ambiguity.

Mysteries
The praying of the Rosary is traditionally dedicated to one of three sets of ‘Mysteries’ to be said in sequence, one per day: the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries. Each of these three sets of Mysteries has within it five different themes to be meditated on, one for each decade of ten Hail Marys. Various actions and incantations are performed and recited whilst fondling the beads. The intention of praying the Rosary is whilst saying one thing, thinking another.

Signs
Signs and symbols are derivatives of contextually familiar images. When there is sufficient iconicity or resemblance between the visual representation and the content it refers to, symbols are relatively easy to interpret and understand. However, not all information can be accurately represented by a representation. One representation can give rise to varying interpretations. The meaning of a given representation can change depending on the context in which it is being viewed.
