Jesus Suits
New Zealand Visual Arts Pop-up Dinner
Grand Floor of St James Theatre, Courtenay Place, Wellington.
Friday 27 July, 6.30pm - 10.30pm
Curator: Eleonora Sparagna, Director, Sator Arts
http://satorarts.com/
A dinner that paired New Zealand Chefs Michele Passarello of Waimea Cafè, Gold medal winner Cheese Master Massimiliano De Caro il Casaro with artworks by Rangituatahi Te Kanawa, Michel Tuffery and Megan Hansen-Knarhoi. Each course was hosted in a different space, separated by heavy velvet crimson theatre curtains. An artwork hung within each space, where a plate was presented, created by the chef in response to the artwork. Michele Passarello of Waimea Cafè responded to Jesus Suits based on the paradigm of the symbol of Ixthus, the fish, associated with early Christians in Roman times, who endured persecution. A whole Tarakihi was slow roasted with olives and red scalogno, and a sweet red wine sauce from a 2005 vintage.
